The action takes place between Texas and California, but the story is mainly centered around New Mexico. Foreign Enemies and Traitors is set in the near future in an America that is creeping steadily toward socialist tyranny, in the midst of the second Great Depression. A year after earthquakes have devastated the Tennessee Valley, survivors are resisting demands by the federal government to relocate to FEMA refugee centers. United States National Guard units have proven ineffective at forcing these survivors out of the earthquake-damaged regions, due to their reluctance to employ deadly force against fellow Americans.

Scary stuff. Narrated by: Mike Kemp! Well we will differ on this one. The author intends the book as a cautionary tale.

Ranya is the only daughter of Joe Bardiwell, a gun dealer. Cops go bad in novels frequently. Grim stuff, but she did something which I found reprehensible and I could never identify with her afterwards, especially Enemies Foreign and Dome. I can't divulge why without a tremendous spoiler which I doubt Amazon wants me to do!

On the one side are those who look upon guns as relics of barbarism, which should be tightly regulated or completely banned. On the other side are those who believe they have a right to self-defense, that right includes the right to own guns, and they will never be willingly disarmed. The author warns that unscrupulous people may use this fault line to gain power for themselves.
